Here at RJM Computers we are always staying update on the latest technology and how we can help you make the best decision towards your purchase. Graphics cards are a significant purchase for a system build and making the best choice before you purchase is a concern we share with you.
With the release of Nvidia's latest GTX 1070 and 1080 cards and AMD's latest RX 480, we now stock all three in the store and tested their performances against each other to get a first hand of their true power and to learn how we can help you to make the best purchase decision for your system build needs; if its for gaming or 3D rendering.
We used synthetic benchmarks to test each card in various scenarios to determine how their price to performance matches to each other.
The Nvidia GTX 1080 is the king on the block when it comes to pure graphics performance and delivers the best fidelity in games; 1080p resolution games are easily ran by the 1080 with resolutions in the 2k and 4k levels being the target for this card, however it requires a bigger spend compared to the GTX 1070 and RX 480. $200 cheaper is the GTX 1070 with benchmarks not to far behind the GTX 1080. Lastly the AMD RX 480 is the best bang for your buck, with prices in the $250-300 range and aiming its performance at the 1080p resolutions. A comparison that we performed in-house with the three cards is shown in the graph below. You can click on the graph to enlarge it in a new window.
