Sites like Craigslist, Backpage, Oodle and many others are a great way to find, buy and sell items. However, crooks and thieves have also found out that those same sites can be used as an easy way to commit crimes against unsuspecting citizens.
The bottom line is that you need to be smart, and cautious, if you are meeting someone to look at or buy items posted on these sites.
The best thing to do, if possible, is to meet them in a public place. A grocery store or mall parking lot where there are a lot of other people around is ideal. If that isn't possible, at least take some other steps to keep yourself safe. Don't go alone. Tell others where you are going and when you are expected to come back.
